Expectations of Board Member 
 
ORIENTATION
All board members will participate in an orientation. 
 
AREAS OF EXPERTISE/SKILL
Board members are expected to share their expertise (e.g. marketing or finance) with the board and staff.
 
MEETING ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION
Board members are expected to attend all board meetings, and to notify ACUW ahead of time if they are going to be absent.  All board members should be prepared for the meetings they attend.  More than 3 consecutive absences per year will result in a discussion of the board member’s ability to continue to serve.
 
COMMITTEES 
The strength of any board rises from the work of its committees. Board members are expected to serve on at least one committee.
 
GIVING
All board members are expected to make a financial commitment to the annual campaign at a level that is comfortable for the individual.
 
WORK ON CAMPAIGNS
All board members are expected to assist with the annual campaign, as needed.
 
ADVOCACY
Board members are expected to act as advocates for the ACUW in the community, increasing understanding of and support for the mission, vision, values, goals and efforts of the ACUW.
 
SPECIAL EVENTS
Board members are strongly encouraged to attend ACUW special events and recognition programs.
